Yellow Fever Vaccination

Yellow Fever Vaccination Requirements for Tanzania & Zanzibar

At Wolf Spirit Safaris, your health and safety are a top priority. Here's what you need to know about Yellow Fever vaccination before your trip.

🦟 Do You Need a Yellow Fever Vaccination?

  • No vaccination required for travelers coming directly from non-risk countries such as the USA, Europe, and many parts of Asia.

  • Vaccination required for travelers arriving from or transiting through Yellow Fever endemic countries (for example: parts of Africa, South America).

  • If you are just transiting through an endemic country for less than 12 hours and do not leave the airport, you do not need to show a certificate.

πŸ“œ Certificate of Vaccination

Travelers from risk areas must present a valid Yellow Fever vaccination certificate upon arrival in Tanzania.

  • Failure to present a valid certificate may result in refusal of entry, or you may be vaccinated at the airport and kept under health observation for up to 10 days.

πŸ’‰ When to Get Vaccinated

  • The Yellow Fever vaccine is given as a single dose and should be administered at least 10 days before arrival.

  • A single dose provides lifetime protection against the virus.

  • If you are medically exempt (age below 1 year, above 60 years, or other health conditions), carry a doctor's exemption letter and seek immediate medical care if you develop symptoms such as fever, headache, muscle, or joint pain.

🏝 Traveling Between Mainland Tanzania & Zanzibar

Good news β€” if you are traveling from mainland Tanzania to Zanzibar (or vice versa), you do not need to show a Yellow Fever vaccination certificate. Zanzibar is part of the United Republic of Tanzania.
